“Antica Chiusina” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG

History of wine

Antica Chiusina is the masterpiece of Fattoria del Cerro. It is produced only in those years made extraordinary not only by the natural vocation of the Montepulciano territory but also by the fortunate ripening of the grapes. It is a wine intimately linked not only to the estate but also to the history of the denomination itself. Its name identifies a vineyard that is still crossed today by the Etruscan road that connected Montepulciano and Chiusi, two of the most significant cities of ancient Etruria. Antica Chiusina ranks at the highest qualitative levels of Nobile di Montepulciano for its great pleasantness and elegance.

Vinification and maturation

Grapes are manually harvested in boxes of 20 Kg; fermentation with maceration at controlled temperature (24°-28° C) with daily pumping and
délestage; a the end of alcoholic fermentation, maceration period continues bringing the temperature at 29° C; after the racking, wine is  transferred into oak barrels where it will age for 18 months.

Tasting notes

Black and red little fruits at the nose with mineral hints. Elegant and powerful at the palate with a long lasting finish.

Pairings

Ideal with roasted red meats, roast game, stewed beef.

Fattoria del Cerro, located in Montepulciano (Acquaviva), in the province of Siena, extends over 600 hectares of property, of which 181 are vineyards. With its 93 hectares registered in the Vino Nobile register, it is the largest private producer of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
