Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG​

History of wine

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva represents the history of our estate. It is indeed the first Vino Nobile produced since the first vintage of this denomination at our estate. A wine that comes from selected vineyards, the highest of the property, where the Sangiovese-Prugnolo Gentile has been growing for over 30 years.

The choice of the blue color element on the label is not a graphic whim, but a tribute to the resource that, together with the vineyard, ensures the uniqueness of this wine: the typical blue clay present in our Vino Nobile vineyards.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG​

Vinification and maturation

The grapes are harvested selecting them depending on the quality, exposition and soil type; fermentation and maceration at controlled temperature (24°/28° C) with daily pumping over and délestage. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, maceration period continues bringing the temperature at 29° C. After the racking, wine is transferred into oak barrels, where it remains 18 months followed by 6 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Intense red fruit at the nose followed by a full-bodied structure on the palate. The long finish reflects the wine's fruity perfumes. To serve in large glasses at 18° C.

Pairings

Excellent for roasted or red rich meat, aged cheeses.

Fattoria del Cerro, located in Montepulciano (Acquaviva), in the province of Siena, extends over 600 hectares of property, of which 181 are vineyards. With its 93 hectares registered in the Vino Nobile register, it is the largest private producer of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
